Hurricanes knocked back to reality by Georgia Tech (AP)
Fri, 21 Nov 2008 13:52:02 PST- The way Miami Football expected to handle Georgia Tech's triple option offense was by playing what's called "assignment football," a fancy way of saying each defender must manage a specific responsibility. Didn't happen. So Miami's next assignment? Maybe it'll be packing for Orlando or Jacksonville, because a trip to the Champs Sports or Gator bowls could be the Hurricanes' most realistic postseason...

Georgia Tech ruins Miami's return to the rankings (AP)
Thu, 20 Nov 2008 21:55:58 PST-This is the way they draw up the triple option. Ruining Miami's return to national prominence, Georgia Tech ran for a staggering 472 yards -- the second-most ever allowed by the Hurricanes -- and romped to a 41-23 victory Thursday that gives the Yellow Jackets a chance to pull out an Atlantic Coast Conference divisional title that no one seems eager to win.

Miami Football (FL) Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Tue, 18 Nov 2008 22:32:04 PST-

Considering when the season began most saw Miami Football as a third-place team at best in the division and even possibly a fourth-place club, the Hurricanes find themselves in a very surprising position.

With their win over Virginia Tech and North Carolina's subsequent loss to Maryland, the Hurricanes (7-3, 4-2 ACC) can get the Coastal Division's berth in the ACC Championship game by winning their remaining two games against Georgia Tech and North Carolina State.

That is far from a given, of course, especially with both of them on the road.

"We have to make sure we stay focused and concentrate on the game and not anything else," coach Randy Shannon said as the Hurricanes, ranked (23rd) for the first time since early 2006, began preparations for the Yellow Jackets.

Hurricanes bracing for cold night in Atlanta (AP)
Tue, 18 Nov 2008 14:31:32 PST-Only the most ardent Miami Football fan probably knows who Bobby Revilla is. He won't score a touchdown, do any coaching or make any tackles, but he's an especially popular and important member of the Hurricanes' staff this week. Revilla is the Hurricanes' equipment manager. That's right: He's the keeper of the cold-weather gear.

They're baaaack: 'Canes ranked again
Sat, 22 Nov 2008 23:59:01 GMT-Look who's back in the rankings and trying to nail down a championship. Yep, it's the Miami Football Hurricanes, who have reason to be proud of themselves even if this sort of thing was once the norm in south Florida. Trying to break away from the pack in the convoluted Atlantic Coast Conference, No. 23 Miami Football can move a step closer to locking down a division title with a win over Georgia Tech on Thursday night.
